Wendy Shiffer, CD(DONA), LCCE, CHBI, DFB

I am blessed to be the mother to four beautiful children.  I became a full-time Doula in 2008, after a 15 year career in Early Childhood Education.  I believe that bringing a child into this world is a celebration and I will forever be committed to all that surrounds the birth of a child and the new family.  I believe in, and encourage all women to learn to trust in their own body's ability to give birth.  While working with Mothers, I am also a graduate student studying Midwifery.  I have worked with women of nearly all walks of life, and I enjoy meeting and learning from new families, sharing our stories of parenthood, and attending workshops.

My qualifications include:

*  Certified Birth Doula  CD(DONA)
*  PA & DE State Representative, DONA International
*  Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE)
*  2011 Lamaze International Birth Conference Speaker
*  Midwifery Student (4.0 GPA, Deans List)
*  Certified Happiest Baby on the Block (c) Instructor  (CHBI)
*  Placenta Encapsulation Specialist   PES(PBi)
*  Dancing For Birth Instructor (DFB)
*  Appeared on Discovery Health channel (2009) as a Newborn Care Educator

What do former clients have to say?
"Wendy helped us to have the birth experience we had hoped for.  She is a warm and gentle person who took the time to get to know us, and what our needs were.  The education and resources that she provided us were valuable, but even more so was her ability to listen and her attention to our needs and desires.  She is dedicated to her clients, and made me feel as if I were her only concern.  She always had time for me.  It is clear that she is passionate about birth, babies, and families.  We were also so happy with the way she interacted with the hospital staff (it was clear to us that they knew her, and had positive experiences working with her previously).  I highly recommend Wendy as a doula, regardless of what type of birth is planned.  She is such a good listener and non-judgemental, that she could accomidate every family."  - Doula client, July 2010.

"Wendy is a wealth of knowledge and has a calming aura about her. I
love that she kept my fiance involved every step of the way,
This was an experience for him too! From the first birth class she
gave us I felt confident that this was a great choice for us to share
our birth with her. When the time came for us to meet our little one,
Wendy was calm and collected, she stepped in at just the right time to
help coach us through some very hard labor. I really feel like
things would have been a lot harder for me mentally and physically if
she hadn't been there at the bedside." - Doula client, Jan. 2010

"Wendy was a wonderful help.  We would’ve had a difficult time without her.” - Doula client, Jan 2010

"Wendy was knowledgeable, reassuring, and comfortable to interact with during a difficult labor.  Highly recommend" - Doula client, Aug 2009

What does the Hospital Staff have to say?
"The techniques suggested by Wendy were a tremendous help to the physical and emotional aspects of the mother" - RN, Hospital, Jan. 2010.

"Wendy was a strong support for the father, as well as the mother.  She was clearly engaged with the parents who greatly benefited from having her as their doula." - RN,  March 2010.
